Preventative Dental Care

Good health starts with the whole family

At Must Love Kids® Pediatric Dentistry in Vancouver, WA, Drs. Monisha and Prashant Gagneja – known affectionately as “Dr. Mo” and “Dr. G” by their patients – believe that good dental health starts with the whole family. From Oral Examination and counselling for parents of newborns to dental care for teens, the excellent team at Must Love Kids® Pediatric Dentistry provide comprehensive preventive dental care for patients.

Infant Oral Examination and Parent Education

Drs. Monisha and Prashant Gagneja and their staff offer customized education for new parents and their children. To help parents be better prepared for a variety of parenting challenges, Dr. Mo and Dr. G offer education regarding feeding infants, teething, and how to prevent dental and oral disease before they can even start. America Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and American Dental Association (ADA) recommend having the first dental examination within six months of the first tooth erupting or before a child’s 1st birthday.

Dental Exams and Digital X-Rays

Establishment of regular comprehensive checkups and x-rays are fundamental for the best possible oral health. All preventive dental care and restorative treatment plans are customized and dependent on your child’s unique dental needs and age. It is recommended that each patient visits MLK Pediatric Dentistry office every six months.

Lifelong Beautiful Smiles

Regularly scheduled visits to Must Love Kids® are an essential part of good dental health, preventing cavities and gum disease, and keeping your child’s smile healthy and bright!

Thorough tooth brushing and flossing practices are the best ways to prevent cavities and periodontal disease; however, there are places in your mouth that are difficult to reach even with regular brushing and flossing. A professional cleaning by our registered dental professionals will ensure the very best removal of plaque in those hard-to-reach places.

Part of our preventive dental care services at Must Love Kids® includes instructing our patients regarding appropriate at-home dental hygiene to maintain optimal oral health and a healthy smile for life. Drs. Monisha and Prashant Gagneja’s team will guide you in all elements of at-home dental hygiene, including proper brushing and flossing techniques and education about the best dental products to use at home.

Fluoride Treatment

Drs. Monisha and Prashant Gagneja may recommend Fluoride varnish application as part of your child’s overall treatment for preventive dental care. When applied, Fluoride treatments re-mineralize teeth, stop developing cavities, and make teeth more resistant to acid attacks from bacteria in the mouth.

Apart from professionally applied Fluoride varnish, Fluoride mouthwash and toothpaste might be recommended to prevent caries or treat initial caries. In areas where there is no water Fluoridation, Fluoride supplements may be recommended.

Tooth Sealants

Teeth have grooves and fissures on their surfaces, which can often trap food particles and plaque. Unfortunately, these grooves of your teeth often cannot be reached by regular brushing and flossing.

Dr. Mo and Dr. G can apply a simple tooth sealant in these cases, providing protection from plaque and resulting decay. This simple procedure can be provided in one single visit, and takes only a few minutes to complete.

Mouth Guards

At Must Love Kids®, we know that children are busy with their own adventures. That’s why Dr. Mo, Dr. G, and their team offer mouth guards to help your child stay safe on the field during athletic practices and competitions.

We make custom mouth guards that fit precisely to your child’s teeth and bite. These are extremely comfortable and provide superior protection. A properly fitting mouth guard can decrease the chance of a dental trauma and protect your child’s smile!

Prenatal Education

Healthy habits start even before the birth of a child. Drs. Monisha and Prashant Gagneja and their team offer prenatal education for expectant moms and dads to help ensure that their child has the best possible start for a lifetime of good dental health.
